Get Involved

Innermost Gardens is a community asset for everyone to enjoy. There are many ways that you can get involved, such as:

PATH FUNDRAISER: We are currently fundraising to upgrade the path running from Lawson Place to the hall.

We are $2500 short of our target, so are appealing to the community to make donations to support this community asset.

If you regularly use the path for walking, or compost drop offs, please consider making a donation into our bank account

38-9005-0915382-00, reference Path Donation.

Receipts are available for amounts over $5. Please email us if you make a donation and would like one.

Job Board

Regular working beesWe offer opportunities to get involved during the week or weekend.

Join us every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month @ 11am - 1pm for a garden working bee.

We also run a Tuesday morning group every week from 10am - 12pm.

We'll often start with a short lesson on what's growing and finish with a nice cup of tea.

Compost

Contribute to our compost bins

We have easily located compost bins and welcome contributions of food scraps to them as this is how we grow great soil. Instructions for use are located alongside the bins, which are located behind our hall. Normal composting dos and don'ts apply.

      • We like any fruit and vege scraps, but not fish, meat or animal fats.

      • We like coffee grounds, and even provide coffee bean chaff for you to sprinkle over each contribution you make to create a 'brown layer', but we don't like coffee capsules that are made of plastic

      • Our bins don't get to the right temperature to break down bio bags - yep, even the ones that say they are home compostable, so bring your waste in a plastic bucket which you can wash with our tap and take home to reuse.

Planting

Make a donation. As a community group that relies on volunteers, we are always grateful for some extra cash that can be spent on materials or maintenance. As a registered charity any donations are tax deductible.

Join the core group. If you've some administration, graphic, gardening or leadership skills you want to develop, consider joining the core group which meets on the last Sunday of every month. Email us or talk to us at one of the garden working bees to express your interest.

Allotment

Steward an allotment. We have a limited number of allotments for people who prefer to plan and grow their own produce. Please email us, if you'd like to be added to the waiting list which is about a year long.
